Is there a better place to promote sustainability and foster an awareness for the environment than at kindergartens and schools? Probably not – which is why, a few years back, REMONDIS decided to develop the first ever nationwide educational project that focuses entirely on recycling and on conserving our planet's natural resources. It was created with the help of teaching specialists in line with the latest educational findings and is aimed at children and teenagers aged between 5 and 15. The objective of the project is to make the youngsters more aware of the importance of protecting our environment and show them how they can act responsibly. A range of age and interest-related materials are available to help the children learn about what they themselves can do to ensure raw materials are recovered and returned to production cycles. By the way, this programme is becoming ever more successful. Besides the positive feedback we have received from teachers, this project has also been named one of the 1,000 steps towards a better and cleaner future – an award presented by KlimaExpo.NRW. You can read more about this in the section on Transfer of know-how.

The RECYCLING PROFESSIONALS has a range of teaching materials for kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools
In addition to their teaching material – which is continuously being added to and extended to include all years up to Year 10 – the RECYCLING PROFESSIONALS also offer an interactive theatre show. As with the teaching materials, everything here focuses on the subjects of raw materials and recycling. These theatre performances are put together using a series of modules, enabling them to be adapted to the age of the children and their curriculum. Schools, of course, can only invite people into their classrooms if they actually know about what they have to offer. Which is why the RECYCLING PROFESSIONALS regularly travelled to the didacta – Europe's largest and most important educational fair – to set up a stand and showcase their project. The time at the fair, however, was not only important for presenting the programme but also for talking to the teachers. Their feedback is used to draw up future teaching material. By doing so, we ensure that our educational project is based on the places where it can have the greatest effect: on the everyday world of the pupils and their teachers.
In 2016, our educational project was presented with an award by the German Council for Sustainable Development. More details are available in the section on Awards
Everyone is encouraged to join in the RECYCLING PROFESSIONALS' theatre shows
Shaping the future is something that only adults do? You must be joking! The Kids Climate Conference was held in Germany for the first time in 2015. 150 children, aged between 8 and 15, were given the opportunity to develop their own ideas and concepts regarding the subjects of environmental protection and climate change. The RECYCLING PROFESSIONALS were also there – as a partner of the event and as the organiser of two creative workshops on waste treatment and the avoidance of waste. Workshop 1 enabled the children to make their own film about protecting the environment. Workshop 2 was all about giving the problem of waste a "face" by creating a "Sculpture of Waste". The overall outcome of the Kids Climate Conference was truly impressive. All of the children's creative ideas were combined to draw up 16 guiding principles. These were then written down in a so-called 'climate book' which should help inspire others to act responsibly. We are really looking forward to seeing the effect this will have and will continue to join in with our RECYCLING PROFESSIONALS – at the upcoming Kids Climate Conference events.
The first Kids Climate Conference to take place in Germany was held in Medebach in the Hochsauerland region
